BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs compressor analyses, on all assigned compressor units at various locations, utilizing state of the art diagnostic equipment to identify any mechanical and performance problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists with troubleshooting and diagnostic activities related to compressor operation, maintenance and performance problems.
2. Performs sampling and analyses of compressor lubrication oil and jacket water and provides recommendations and priorities for remedial actions and follow ups based on the analyses results.
3. Provides project planning, bid evaluations, vendor evaluations and on-site monitoring of planned major compressor maintenance and automation projects.
4. Provides project planning, schedule requirements, material management and overall project coordination on installation and start-up of capital and operational support projects to meet business unit requirements. Provides capital expenditure projections as required.
5. Assists operating personnel with recommended spare parts inventories for engines, compressors and other critical plan equipment. Develops and conducts schedules for preventive maintenance.
6. Assures proper maintenance and calibration of compressor maintenance tools and instruments such as torque wrenches, gages and precision micrometers.
7. Provides local representation on projects to assure quality and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and operational constraints.
8. Coordinates the safety activities and regulatory compliance of assigned projects during their design, construction and implementation phases.
9. Coordinate and control activities of outside maintenance contractors for the remedy of compressor operation and maintenance problems.
10. Maintains current knowledge regarding plant safety, personnel safety and environmental rules and regulations as well as maintain current knowledge of industry trends and new technologies as it relates to compressor diagnostics and plant performance.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
1. Associates degree in engineering technology, electronics or computer science or a related field and two years related experience in operations, maintenance and trouble shooting gas pipeline facilities; or
2. A general educational knowledge acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and three years related experience in operations, maintenance and trouble shooting gas pipeline facilities
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
NUMERIC SKILLS:
Requires the ability to apply research methods, and/or advanced statistical andmathematics.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Requires basic computer skills in order to utilize various software applications for developing documents, reports and graphics.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Works in an field environment.
